More power Please

Hi Folks. I’m looking to up my towing capacity on our E350 (weighs about 8200lbs). Would like to be able to tow 7k-10k. The current 5.4l is gutless and I can’t imagine any mods that would get the torque I would need. V10?, Ford diesel?, Cummins diesel? Any ideas. Thx!

My recommendation is to regear the van properly. It's likely the cheapest mod that will yield more capability (likely at the expense of economy but so does more power).

Towing 10,000 lb? Cummins diesel conversion.

I have the V10 with 4.56 gears which I find just adequate for climbing the mountain passes around here. Couldn't imagine towing 10,000 lb with it.

You can go lots more, but you have to be realistic that it won't likely be ideal. As mentioned above, towing 10k with a V10 (rated at 10k) would be challenging for sure. I towed about 8000lbs with my van with the v10 and 4.56 and it was decent at best. No races were won towing

That would be awesome. Seems like a lot of work. If there was a kit or company that does the work it would be the way to go.

7.3 gas conversion? Dunno if its been done yet but they are in the new chassis cab vans so I'm sure it'll fit. Biggest question will be how much you want to spend.

It's not posted yet... and it might not even have to be posted. I'm working with a potential buyer now on a plan for the interior. I wouldn't say it's a 100% done deal but we're close.
