New Rear end will excursion work?

I have been working on getting a 4.30 geared Sterling 10.5" full floating rear end under my van for some time now. I have a 2001 7.3 Van with a quadvan conversion. MGmetalworks has been helpful and suggested that I look for an F250 super duty 2005 to 2007 model because of the sensor. These are hard to find locally but I have one located on fleabay for around $800. I see these excursion 10.5 4.30 geared rearends from 2001 on there and there're half that price. Is there a sensor difference or any reason why I can't use the excursion rear end for my van? My plan is to get full float, new gear ratio, and eliminate the block lift kit with new helper springs from Oregon Spring all at the same time. Thanks.

Is your front axle 8x6.5 like most vans? You might need an adapter for the Sterling as that is presumably 8x170. Not sure how that would affect the width or wms-wms. Not sure on the sensor but might want to make sure the tone ring is the same in the diff?

Try car-part.com

$800 seems a bit high. I think I paid $350 for a <100k axle. It was a Dana not a Sterling though.

Same here. I paid $500 for a D60 FF which was rated excellent cond at 110k from a Phoenix salvage yard. Things looked pretty burnt when I pulled the axles and diff cover so I had it rebuilt with new gears and bearings.

try your local lqk. they ship weekly all around the west/nw.

i found my 05 4:10 sterling w/lsd at one of the local lkq's for 280 with a 100 core. took lsd out of original dana 60 rear end from my 03, then took back the core. now if i could just sell the older lsd and get the stinky thing out of my garage id be set. was told it will work in my sterling so i guess having a backup isn't a bad thing since no one seems too interested in it.

Excursions didn't get the brake size upgrade the '05 Superduties got. But, that means 16" wheels fit. Sensors will be compatible.

Are you getting lifted springs from Oregon Spring? I asked them about making me 4” lift springs and they said they only will build 2” lift. They said anything bigger would need to designed by Deaver.

Thanks for tips. I've been on car part and LKQ but I'll figure out an alert so I can get a 4.30 geared rear end. I thought $800 was double what I thought was right price. Also, Oregon Spring said the same thing to me: 2" max. The longer I stayed and talked though the more he engaged and said in combo with helper springs and a couple additional new springs he could get to 3+ inches. The trick is not to ask them to make a stack from scratch that's more than 2". I was told if I leave it with them for a few hours when I pick it up no block and 3" is what I get back. I know it's not a deaver setup but he said they do this for John at Quadvan when he has a heavy tailed van and it works great. I got the impression that it's close to Deaver in ride from he heard back from the customers.

Oregon Spring makes Springs for Deaver based on Deaver designs. Keep us posted please.
