Had my 7.3 vacuum pump die while pulling a 27' travel trailer down hill. Fortunately, the hill rolled out with an exit at the bottom, with a Napa as the only business at the exit. They had a pump with pulley in stock. Replaced it about 15 minutes. Used a breaker bar to remove the belt and I believe a 10mm wench to remove the pump.
I was the original poster back in 2015 for this thread. I just had my second failure at 120k miles. I was on my way back from the desert. Back in 2015 I said I was upgrading my AAA. I did and this 60 mile flatbed tow was taken care of. It would have been different the day before as I was off-road up Coyote Canyon way beyond AAA coverage. Thank S&R Towing for the great service. So Cal off-roaders should make a note as they also have an off-road recovery vehicle.
