Hey Z.

I'm about ready to do the same. Every time I go in the mountains and push the engine hard, get the dreaded PO299 with lack of power, high engine temps, forever to spool from stop accompanied by black smoke. Once I get back home, it has always worked itself out and is back to normal again. Unfortunately, it always acts up when I really need it to be working well.

Can you point to where you purchased all of the parts and part numbers? Turbo should be GT3788VA, but curious on the rest of the parts (oil feed line, drain tube, back pressure sensor).

Any other tips you can lend would be awesome. Time for me to get over my fear of wrenching on my PSD. Also time to go buy a real manual for this engine.

Excellent prices and service I thought.

I have the factory manual and they were a little help. The hardest part was installing the oil drain tube. The manual just said "install oil drain pipe". I had to install the turbo, cock it to one side and fit the tube from the front of the van. Removing both CAC tubes helps as does moving the large wiring harness up from above the engine--a good tip from the factory manual. Still it was time consuming.

I've put about 2500 miles on the PowerMax and DP Tune. Extremely happy with it. No issues, easy passing and hill climbing, but feels only slightly healthier under normal driving. Get deep in the throttle, however, hang on. Also fuel mileage is up nearly 10%, EGT's are down and I swear it's running a little cooler.

All 6.0'ers should do this.

Good to hear, on a related note-I love what the DP Tuner did to my 7.3, huge difference in drivability, have a few tunes including a tow tune, pulls like a champ!

And apparently no coolant puking out the degas cap or visible agitation in the bottle? Maybe best NOT to look!

25k on my SCT/Economy tune and no issues. Engine is completely stock otherwise.

Ditto. 20K on my SCT/Economy tune and 10k on a FICM Atlas40 tune. Also stock with the exception of an exhaust mod. The tune turns the EGR valve. This does not, however, stop coolant flow through the EGR cooler.

I've been researching turbo upgrades but not sure what the best option for a 6.0 in a van is. Good info. Thread bookmarked.
