Ram air, anyone have a preference.

Some yeahoo built a red neck ram air that was/is on my van when I purchased it. It has a K &N filter that I am pretty sure I would like to ditch. Can anyone suggest some kind of air box, ram air unit that I can use. I would really like to go back to the paper filter if possible. thanks..

Re: Ram air, anyone have a preference.

i've not found anything for the E series with the 7.3, short of having something custom done, and even then, not much room and little gained for the cost that it will take. I just ditched my drop in K&N's in favor of Napa gold paper filters, so far have not noticed any difference in pull. My biggest gain was to add a DP tuner with several of their tunes made specifically for the vans, BIG difference! The 80hp daily is pretty sweet and needs very little throttle input to get the beast off the line quickly. I had already done an exhaust and added an EGT and boost gauge on top of already having a scan gauge. My .02 is to ditch your efforts with the intake, put it back to stock and get a DP chip and exhaust, you will be very happy.

Find a stock box at a junkyard. You're not going to get cleaner colder air than that.

I agree with what the guys above mentioned. Find a stock setup from a junkyard or online somewhere and just replace yours.

But... I would still like to see pics of this redneck setup.
Our local Paramedic rigs, granted the 6.0 diesel ones, have been retrofitted with a hood scoop from a Subaru. Have no idea how well it functions, but they look cool.
