Re: Rear axle ID

Had a question, I have the 4.1 LS rear axle also (believe it to be the Dana 60) but I see no drain for the rear differential, only the fill hole. Any advice on how to change the oil? Do you have to try and pump it out? Kinda tight back there with my battery and storage box limiting the room.

A handheld suction gun with a 12" - 18" tube. Maybe something like $20- $30 bucks.

Pull the cover. Use RTV Silicone to make a gasket when putting it together. Follow the directions on the tube. Piece of cake.

Re: Rear axle ID

Yup, pull the cover. There'll be lots of grunge in the bottom you'll want to muck out of there. A suction pump won't get it all. Good opportunity to look at the wear pattern on the gears too.
