I had the cat removed. No engine lights, not much difference in sound, maybe a little more of a low rumble, even on acceleration. Haven’t run it long enough to notice any other difference. If I do, will post. Thanks everyone for the feedback.

Thought I would add my very recent experience in removing the cat on my 6.0L diesel 2005 E350 Quigley 4x4 with an Atlas 40 tune on the FICM. After reading here and in other places that it would lower my EGT, it was on my list of things to do as compared to my 7.3L F250 with no cat the EGT on the van seemed high. On the van I have the Edge digital instrumentation and I installed my EGT probe directly into the exhaust manifold itself.
With the cat my EGT when driving straight and level at 75mph down the highway was right at 750-775 degrees. It is amazing how even the slightest acceleration pushes that to 850 or greater.
Now, with the cat removed and a test pipe in it's place my new EGT under the same conditions is..........750-775 degrees! No change at all. The sound of the exhaust was also the same and no noticeable change in power or throttle response at all.
I will also add that my cat was functioning fine and I could see light through it when removed so it was not plugged up. Perhaps with my EGT probe in the exhaust manifold itself I am reading too far upstream from the cat to see any change? MPG remains to be an item I will monitor to see if there is any difference. Obviously I do have a more free flowing exhaust and I like that but is it enough to be noticeable at all with my current parameters? Time will tell. Just wanted to put some real data here. I would love to have reported that my EGT was 200 degrees lower and the van feels like it's powered by a rocket motor but the data is what it is and my findings so far are that there appears to be no noticeable change in EGT at the exhaust manifold, performance or sound.
Will I put the cat back in because of these findings? Hell NO!!!

Glenn, I would hold onto the cat just in case you need it for smog inspection or resale.

Most definitely Herb! I'm in CA and we get the privilege to pay for a visual inspection every 2 years so I have become pretty good at cat swapping on my F250 every couple years for 1 days use.

Not sure it’s really an issue with a forum but I try to refrain to admitting guilt to federal crimes online. You know, just in case n’stuff.

^^^^ Shenrie, your comment reminds me of the stories where people innocently posted their vacation plans on Facebook, only to return home and discovering it's been violated...then wondering "Why me???"

^^^ yep, exactly. I just recently started spending time on fb and it blows my mind how many people post up that they are taking a 2 week vacation to the where ever. I had a talk with the wife about this exact scenario when she first got an account. It ended there.
We had a local motor sports forum where all the local car enthusiasts and racers went to share builds, mods, etc. it became apparent that the local police had stumbled onto the forum as well. Later on I found out that a couple of the local emissions people would spend time on there too taking notes of illegal mods. People stopped posting stuff they shouldn’t real quick. Just not worth the chance imho.

I've had two girlfriends over the years FB has been so damned ubiquitous---both had their accounts hacked and mayhem ensued---sadly. It took both quite a bit of effort and time getting it all sorted out.
The current G/F had a page she began posting photos and info about us, me and my work, sometimes mentioning I played in a part-time band and a ton of info about that. This was very early in our budding romance but once I discovered the extent she shared TMI (IMHO) we discussed it and everything about me was removed. Keep in mind she's a full 27 years younger, has a teenage son so it wasn't anything outside of "normal" for her.
Since then she's had her page attacked again but this time it contained mostly info about her business. Being experienced she was able to restore the page otherwise she was fully ready to abandon that site all together. Today she posts nothing private or important, things about the business but scant little else
Long story short don't post anything online you don't intend to share with the entire world. It's fun to share but these days its fraught with too many risks, IMHO anyway.

^^^ totally agree. After my wife (then gf) and I had our talk about what all she shared on fb she started a private group that only family and close friends have access to. Since then she only posts stuff about our adventures after the fact to the general public. Plus her use of fb has diminished anyway, which doesn’t bother me one bit.
Its scary how “normal” it is to put it all out there these days...
