Remove cat to avoid theft

This may be a taboo subject but will my van run normal without a catalytic converter? I can live with a warning light if that is the only issue it creates. Of course I would never run my vehicle without a cat, just curious.

You could get tagged by one of the on-ramp emissions compliance vans. Though the Ford modular motors run pretty clean anyways once up to temp.

Just keep in mind the person you’ll expose the most is you… CO emissions at idle will be far higher without the cat.

I expect cat theft to get even worse as the price of palladium has already increased over 80% since December, (up to $2700/oz) and it’s an essential metal used in the manufacture of converters. Russia and Ukraine are the leading producers of it and supply chains are already disrupted.

It looks like Marcus has a 2007 6.0, do those Diesels need a sensor signal fore and aft the cat, to keep the 'money light' CEL from lighting?

I can't speak to diesel, but my 5.4 gasser ran fine when I was in between cats (after a mid-trip failure) a couple of years ago...not even a check engine light. But it was loud and very smelly at idle...and had notably more oomph...

(3) Vehicle owners are mailed a letter asking them to participate in a voluntary vehicle repair program.

The diesel is gone. It's a 2003 Quigley v10 now.
