Repair shops in Long Beach/Orange County area?

Does anyone have a recommendation for a service/repair shop that knows the 6.0? Any shops to avoid??

Re: Repair shops in Long Beach/Orange County area?

I know South Bay Car Care (formerly Bob's Brake) does a lot of work on Sportsmobiles. I had them do my 30k mile service a couple of years ago and they definitely know what the are doing and at least several other forum members use them as well. However, I'm not sure if they actually work on the 6.0 engine. It may be worth calling them to find out, if they do not do the work, they will probably have a good recommendation.

Second the recommendation regarding South Bay Car Care. About 15 minutes south of LAX if I recall correctly.

Was not happy with south bay and had to make sure they did what I asked and they still did not.

Thanks for the input.

This van has never had major service. It had 7500 on it when I got it now has only 12000 and I would like a major service by someone that can see potential issues and know what preventive maintenance needs to happen. Should I even consider the Ford dealer?

If you are only at 12,000 don't sweat a thing.

Just keep up with regular oil and filter changes and replace the coolant at regular intervals. I've been using South Bay Auto for years and have been quite happy with their work.

Also, get a scangauge to monitor oil, coolant and tranny fluid temps. Hubert at SBA can cover all of that easily.

If you ever do have a major problem, I'd use Sunrise Ford in north hollywood. They have a separate truck service center and see a lot of diesel trucks and vans.

Good luck

I have a Scan gauge and monitor the temps. The ECT runs hot when pulling a hill but is fine on flat. The high temp is what concerns me. There is a Worthington Ford truck center here in Long Beach but I think they only work on fleet vehicles.

What sort of high ECT temps give you concern?

If the gap between EOT and ECT is not more than 5-10deg under a steady load, you are fine. Check it on a flat stretch of road at 60-65mph.

My gap averages 4-6deg and my max ECT has hit 232deg after pulling a long grade in summer heat.
