FYI - from the ford-trucks website - https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...e-6-0-a-7.html - a 6.7 starter fits on a 6.0.

The benefits are that all three bolts are the same size - m8-1.25x40mm - and a 6.7 starter should be available far longer than a 6.0 starter...
https://www.mcmaster.com/90386A112 - m8 serrated flange bolts
https://www.mcmaster.com/6658K736 - oil bearing for the smaller 6.7 bolt.

I bought a new Ford starter (SA1004 {#BC3Z11002A}), and the parts above, for less than the Mahle starter from CNC fab, and plan to install once we get the van back. If I remember to take pictures, I'll update this thread.

RockAuto has Ford starters for ~$300, and they have a 2-year warranty vs. a 1-year warranty with Mahle.

Also, per the ford-trucks thread, the 6.4 and 6.7 starter requires more amps, so upgrading the battery cables may be even more advantageous.
Just providing some alternatives...
Chris

Just to clarify, the 6.4 is plug and play with the same bolts and the 6.7 requires drilling or tapping out the 3rd hole or using a custom spacer and bolt.

I've had a 6.4 in my 6.0 since 2015. No issues and it definitely spins up faster. That might draw more current and the voltage to drop a little more but I would think that is possibly offset by a quicker start time. Thus, lessening the load on the glow plugs and batteries. Not sure but I have a 250A alternator to take care of business. Upgraded cables is a good idea as well, simply from an age standpoint.

Wanted to tie in this previous thread from 2018 for anyone that searches for starter information for diesel engines - upgrade a 7.3 starter with a 6.7 starter ford diesel - http://www.sportsmobileforum.com/for...sel-21376.html

The video reveals that a 6.7 starter can be used on a 7.3 by installing the 7.3 nose cone on a 6.7 starter!?!?! The 6.7(& 6.4) has larger bearings, and armature/windings.

The video provides some physical differences among the various starters (the video is referenced in the aforementioned thread) -
7.3 vs 6.0 vs 6.4 vs 6.7 Powerstroke OEM OSGR Starters

also found another 6.7 starter in a 7.3 video -
