Staun Internal Beadlocks

Has anyone looked at using the staun internal beadlocks? They're like a second internal tire that in the event of a tire failure you won't be riding on the rim, and will be able to get to a stable spot to change the tire. I'm getting them for my van, with the hope that if I ever have a highway blowout, it won't be as scary.

I'll be checking out those pneumatic bottle jacks for sure...

Don't know anything about this flavor, but do make sure that they'll work for the _weight_ of your van. My familiarity is with the military run-flats; it's an internal solid rubber tire inside the inflated tire. We drove, albeit no more than 35mph, for almost 40 miles on one of those runflat inner tire things. Worked great, and saved our butts.

HOWEVER, some have reported marginal performance when used on uparmored vehicles. Basically, it couldn't take the extra weight.

My point is: make sure it'll take the weight of your probably-really-heavy vehicle!

Yeah, I thought about that too. about the only data I can get is a quote on their website mentioning a 5k lb. vehicle running at a 45 degree tilt etc.

I imagine that it would be hard to get a commitment from them but that is one of the reasons I was looking to see if anyone had experience with them...

Garage
I've been using BFG A/T's on my fourby's for 30 years, and put them up to more that a van can give them, except for the weight. Never had an issue. I thought I had a flat once, but I actually dented in my wheel rim, and it defalted. I hammered it back into shape right on the trail, and the tire took air with no problems ever again. I guess my point is I don't expect many flats.

I bought 5 BFG Mud T/As on a Thursday and by Saturday afternoon I was down to 4. I cut a sidewall open on a rock climb in Indiana. Ironically 6 years later all four original tires and the spare are now doing duty on a second Jeep. Thank goodness for the warranty!
