I've washed all kinds of engines all kinds of ways. Worse case is you'll get something wet and it won't run well until you get it un-wet. I like clean engines. I say go for it. I usually just use the spray-n-wash car wash bays with the hot, soapy water they have after I quick spray it with a can of degreaser but all the car dealerships steam clean them and it works for them.

2X on the wash bays. Be sure to stuff a rag in the air intake. If a gasser try not to spend to much time around the spark plugs. Can make them soggy and hard to light (they may miss fire).

Thank you for the tips guys. I do like a clean engine bay and I am sure that an engine tech head won't mind it either.

I've yet to have a problem because of washing a motor... and I've washed over 50 different types.

I had a friend in the used car business and was shocked one day to find him pressure washing the carpets INSIDE a car. He claimed he did it all the time with no issues. On the other hand, I was pressure washing the bilges in an engine room aboard a ship when somehow moisture got into the voltage regulator of the generator and shorted it out. The result was ugly as the voltage spiked and blew up a ton of electronics including 11 flat screens, the radar power supply and the fire alarm system. It turned out that the regulator was caked in carbon from an exhaust leak and a little moisture caused a short. So, avoid the electrical stuff...................

Arctic traveler - that's probably why I pulled my rubber floor mat after buying my van to find that it was soaked underneath. Awesome.

I pressure wash both of my engine compartments with a $99 Lowes pressure washer......works great....sometimes spray a little simple green around first.

It doesn't hurt to take the vehicle for a spin right afterwards to dry things off quicker.
