The OEM works fine for you application. It is a low tech design and they don't last forever. Some of us have done redhead steering box to get a little more reliable product.

I think the box is fine just the pump to start with but I dont see a pump available from red head

thats the steering box not pump. I called red head and they do not make pumps. They recommended these guys https://www.straightlinesteering.com/ Called them up and they do custom high end rebuilds. Waiting on price as they did not have on in stock. Will update post when I find out.

Ya, sorry misunderstood your post.

You should take a look inside your current pump and make sure you don’t see any shiny debris in the reservoir. If you do it might be a good idea to replace the gearbox as well. I work with a few certified ford techs and they said that those 2 parts tend to go out together. If you just replace one odds are good the other piece is sure to die off and kill the newly replaced part in the process.

I don't know why I missed this thread for the past few months. It is informative.

I recently had a thorough inspection at my local brake and steering specialists (that work on numerous SMB's). A lot of my '07 SMB front end was worn out pretty well. I got new brakes, all ball joints, tie rod ends, Warn hubs rebuild, front axle seals, and a new RH steering box. Added the Fox stabilizer as well. A week after the job was finished, my power steering went out only turning left. Never seen that before. It it REALLY hard to steer a 10K# 4x4 with 35's w/o power steering. RH sent a new box, and I'm sure my mechanic ate shit on the labor, but they wouldn't tell me that because they are decent people. Now the steering is back to normal, but after all the negative reports here about the RB box, which was supposed to be the best, I'm a little nervous.
