Re: This is getting ugly, I mean better!

Jeffrey,

Sounds like things are progressing to a totally positive outcome for you. It will be worth it in the end, when you have total confidence in your rig. That dealership and that tech deserve to be recognized!

Salivan-
I had my bed plate leak fixed at the Salinas Ford truck place and they let me in to check it out whenever I wanted.
Actually, the van was being worked on in one of the south bays adjacent to the rear parking lot, and I just walked in.
The mechanic, who was a nice young man, talked to me and explained what he was doing and did a workmanlike job, and found a place for all the parts to go, and when he was done, there wasn't anything left over.
That's not to say that all of the service writers and parts people are the friendliest bunch around.....

Spread the word. A quality shop with good customer service needs to be rewarded!

One of the first things I look at when I walk into a shop is how clean and organized it is. If it's a cluttered mess I'll go somewhere else.

I agree! If everything turns out as I hope, then a nice letter of recommendation and thanks will be sent to the dealership, FMC, and the mechanic. Maybe a 12 pack for him, too!

Re: This is getting ugly, I mean better!

It's good to hear of the quality shops around. I had some trouble in Logan Utah last month and took Zeta's word on the Dealership in Preston Idaho. They did a great job to work with me. Even though they were closed up the service manager gave me his number and had his guys standby to come in on Saturday if I had to be towed in. Fortunately they fixed the problem but nobody has ever offered me that kind of mechanic service.

Re: This is getting ugly, The Finale!

Finally, the job is done. Here's a pic of the engine back in the womb. Last image of this series. All has been re-assembled, and working. The technician drove it for an hour over the local mountain pass (rt 154) with his computer hooked up, monitoring everything, and it passed. These guys were good, and thorough. They got the winch, and all front aux lighting properly reconnected with a good job of taping and routing. I'm driving again! Too bad I can't take a road trip for a few weeks.....darn.

And where I want to be soon:

Re: This is getting ugly, The FINISH!

Yes, it's nice, alright.

The original EGR cooler looked fine. I sent it back to Bulletproof for my core charge refund. Never saw the old amsoil. But it has new now.

The engine sounds a bit noisier than before, but that may change over time. I need to put more insulation in the doghouse.
