THUD!

Tech's;

We took a trip in our 2005 E350SD 6.0L PSTD SMB RB15 Class "B" motorhome to Indiana July 16-19.

Camped out @ OUABACHE {?Wabash?} State Park near Bluffton.

Dropped the travel trailer and drove to SMB in Huntington.

It was raining on the way back to camp so I was manually downshifting to assist braking on wet pavement.

I noticed a thud [?in the driveline?] upon acceleration, with the transmission manually shifted into low [1st]gear.

This occured while running light {7500LBS} but was not noticed while

towing.

Do We have a problem?

Sounds like something loose in the driveline. Could be normal play or a by product of being in 1st. My transmission handles 1st 2nd and 3rd differently depending on whether I have OD on or off or am in 3rd. If you can reproduce it in D or OD you might consider checking it out. If it's only when manually in 1st you're probably getting a by-product of the transmission profile for that gear... or even just that gear as when you let off the gas a bit instead of smootly going to second since it's forced in first you get instant drag and any play in the driveline comes through as a thunk because the engine drag is effectively reversing the driveline.

This is mostly conjecture as I'm mainly a manual/Jeep guy.
