Trans Leak

Well it looks like I will be taking my SMB back up to SMB west. After three trips to one dealer and one trip to another to confirm what the first one said. They both say it is leaking between the transmission and the transfer case adapter piece not covered by the Ford warranty, anything to get out of paying for it I guess. Peter at SMB west said he would take care of my problem and has been great about the whole deal. While I am up there I can get all my little warranty things taken care of and add some goodies for its second birthday.

Tomorrow (Friday) is the day Ill be taking my van up to Fresno to get the trans leak fixed. I have also decided to add an awning, winch and two solar panels while I'm up there. I will also be getting some camper warranty stuff done too. While I'm there I will try and and snap a bunch of pictures of all the vans being built.

Good luck with the repair. Glad to hear about the solar. Mine will have panels, too. I hope you see it up there.

I went up on Friday dropped off my van and took just a couple of pictures. I was pretty busy laying under my van talking about my trans leak. I am supposed to be picking it up this Friday, I hope.
I am still trying to figure out how to post picks.

Update

I have been to two different Ford dealers and back to the Sportsmobile factory once. To date Ford did a dye test then I drove it for one week and took it back. They said it was the pan gasket and replaced it, covered by warranty. It still leaked. I took it back and now they say its coming from Sportsmobiles adapter piece, I don't believe this. I tell them go no further, I don't want them monkeying with my atlas transfer case just so they can charge someone else instead of the Ford warranty. They send a bill to sportsmobile and I take the van. I take it to another Ford and they say adapter piece and charge me 80.00. I take the van back to Sportsmobile they have it for a week they say there adapter piece is not leaking and actually show me. They think the the pan could be defected or the banjo fitting is leaking, they replace the pan gasket that's number two now, It still leaks but not as bad. After spending plenty of time with a rag under this van it seems to me that it is leaking from around the pan bolts is this possible.
Any help as you can see would be much appreciated.

Yes my tranny is still leaking. I think I may have more dye in the tranny than trans fluid by now. I will be going back to Barber Ford for the third time tomorrow. Wish me luck.

does CA have the lemon law, if so, you may want to look into that, however, the problem is identifying the source of the problem
good luck
i sure understand your frustration

The SMB 4x4 system is a CA only option, so probably the other plants cannot service them either.

An note of no help at all: I have a 01 jeep wrangler that I never quite got the transfer case to stop leakin' on. It gets parked over cardboard.
