Trans temp gauge?

I added the same transmission cooler that Badger trek did (I forget the part number thought), and last week I put on the Mag-Hytec aluminum transmission pan http://www.dieselpowerproducts.com//...KGUhoCbrnw_wcB

It added a spot for a 3/8" NPT fitting and temp gauge, does anyone have any recommendations for a good gauge?

Scangauge, it will do much more than just TFT. No tools required.

I, too, use the Scan Gauge II and like it a lot. I bought it specifically to read the transmission temps, but I use it for a lot of other things too (engine coolant temp, RPM, alternator voltage output, MPG, etc.). I've had it for three years and two rigs, and I'm happy with it.

A friend recently got the Ultra Gauge. It's cheaper and has more functions and you can see more things. Maybe I'm just used to my SG, but I still prefer it. Simpler and I can poke at it on the fly if I want too. But the UG is nice.

You do have to have OBD II to use either of these. I think that's '96 or newer.

Has anyone got the scangauge to read TFT on a 7.3l? I have a 1998 and when I entered the code for TFT it did not work. It was a couple years ago so I don't remember the specifics. I remember calling scangauge but the person I talked to was not very helpful. She just said if it didn't work it was not supported on my vehicle. Just curious if other 7.3l owners got it to work especially on a 1998.

If not I may go the route the OP was thinking of. Need a new tranny pan anyway since I can't get it to stop leaking from the seal. Tried new seal, then new seal and RTV, then straight RTV. Still leaks very very slowly. New pan is next.

Autometer Tranny Gauge

I have a scangauge II as well, but didn't think there was an X-gauge code to monitor transmission temp for my 2003 7.3. I have the mag tech aluminum tranny pan as well, and am happy with the Autometer Transmission Temp Gauge. I used an A-pillar gauges mount that I bought from DP-tuner. Fits my Tran and Egt guages nicely, but I did have to sacrifice my grab handle....

I have a 95 (pre OBDII) so I had to add a pillar guage as well. I went with the MaxTow which gives you analog and digital in the same guage and love it.

http://www.amazon.com/MaxTow-MT-DV12...ans+temp+gauge

If I remember right it came with the right fitting for the test port on my E4OD trans (OEM pan). Some reviewers complain about the brightness of the guage but it is dimmable. I have never had a problem with mine.

I have the Scangauge and the TFT XGauge works on my 02 7.3 I'll try to dig up what I programmed it as... Not sure if it'll work on the older 7.3 though.

On my Jeep though I use the B&M gauge. Works well enough. Nice and cheap too.

I would be interested in what code you have as well. My Scanguage II does not read my tranny temp. It is an 02 7.3 as well.

Thanks

For 2002 7.3 TFTemp use the xGauge code from Ford PWM at following link:
SEE: https://www.scangauge.com/support/x-...cific-xgauges/

You have to enter program parameters from the table and your SG has to be XGauge capable.
