transmission question

folks,
I am a newbie, and I am sure this will be an esy one for you all. I own a 2011 e350Quigly RB pax van. It has a 5.4 liter gas engine. The transmission is feeling a little soft. what transmission is in the van, and what upgrades should I make when I rebuild it?

Thanks far any help.

You might just need some better tuning. Feeling "soft" isn't a symptom of a failing transmission. It just means it's not tuned well for your actual weight. Check out 5-Star tuning.

What exactly does "soft" mean? Is it slow to shift, that's to say the shifts take longer than expected with some slippage between gears? Have you checked the transmission fluid level and fluid condition? It should look clean, not brown with a burned smell.

thanks guys. When I say soft; I mean that the shift is slow and not as crisp as it is when things are cold.

Is this a 5R100 or a 5R110 transmission?

I will check fluid level today and verify color and smell. The van has no leaks that I can see.

Enter the VIN number in a vin decoder online to determine exactly which transmission you have.

Is that true for all 5.4s, or just certain years?

2002+. Prior to that some had the 4r100 but maybe not all. 97-99 had the e4od.

TorqueShift only came with the 5.4L in cutaway chassis flavor, never in the vans.

My 2003 5.4l has a 4r100. Verified by Agile Offroad, they we're a little surprised it was from the factory like that.

Check your VIN to verify, you never know what the assembly line pulled off the shelf...
