I got the Scangauge, trans temp works on my 2002 no issues.

Anyone got pics of where they mounted their Scangauge display?

Transmission Temperature

Would anyone mind walking through how to get TFT on the scanguage? I have a 2001 7.3.

Follow the instructions on the scangauge page:-
Download the instruction manual (or use the one you got with the device), and read the chapter on how to use / program XGAUGE.
http://www.scangauge.com/support/user-manuals/

Once you understand that, pick the values from this page. I believe you want the very first set listed

Thanks, not sure how my search didn't find that!

Because I want to keep an eye on TRT, I was thinking about PRNDL, but also need to see it because my shifter is a bit dicky (have to jiggle it in park to get the key out).

Re: Transmission Temperature

Here are recent modifications I did to the Kitten due to high transmission temperatures when pulling grade. In the 2010 E350 6.0 L, there is no room or ability to modify the transmission cooler. This was after two referrals. We ended up building a custom fan cooled auxiliary cooler placed behind the gas tank which happened to be the last piece of real estate left under the van. The cooler will only engage when the thermostat reaches a specific temperature. Unfortunately due to the winter season, I sense the new system has not been fully tested. I will have more accurate numbers next summer. For now, instead of reaching 230*+, we keep consistently 30-40* cooler. Per recommendation we are using 50% mix Amsoil ATF and Amsoil Supershift Racing Transmission fluids.

I had made a brush guard for the Amsoil oil filters and transmission filter in front and coolant filter in the rear. Both bolt to the frame and the 4D battery carrier, which stabilizes the battery carrier as well.

Below is the coolant filter:

Below is the 4” to 5” strait pipe exhaust system sans cat and EGR. Not pictured is the custom Airaid air intake by Zylstra.

Steering cooler was replaced with an oversized supercooler brand cooler and Amsoil ATF. Also placed a 275A alternator make here in Portland, OR. The 275A Alternator required placing low gauge cable (1 gauge I believe) to the battery terminals. Also dropped the tank and lowered the intake for the diesel cooktop and furnace.

If you are in the area, I recommend the guys at Rob’s 4WD in Clackamas, OR.

They are now well familiar with SMB and emphasize quality work--plus the cost of labor will be reduced.

Nice fix! Do you have an Aluminess front bumper? I have rear storage box so I would never be able to install a cooler like yours but I would eventually like to get a front bumper. So far my trans temps have never been an issue with the stock front bumper.

Re: Transmission Temperature

I too have a large inset rear storage box. The cooler is between the box and the tank. Like I said...between two 4D batteries, engine batteries, tank, box, atlas transfer, enlarged exhaust and air compressor, there is zero real estate left.
