I am trying to figure out which brand and model of code reader to have onboard for troubleshooting my 2017 3.0 liter Sprinter. The kid at AutoZone assured me that any old meter will do but in looking at manufacturer data, it appears more complex than what the kid said (for me anyway). Anyone use one? Are these units really one size fits all? Thoughts?
Thanks R

I have the Blue Driver unit in my 2016 Sprinter and am very happy with it. Installation and use are documented in my build thread, look to posts 191, 196, 198, 203, 309 & 323.
I also have the Blue Driver and it was instrumental in helping Fitz and Aluminess figure out how to modify the Aluminess front bumper to stop my vehicle from getting an air intake temperature error.
Thanks for the information everybody, much appreciated especially the research time saved. This forum is a fantastic resource for neophytes like myself.....The code scanner was one of my last odds and ends before taking delivery of "the home" in Las Vegas next week. I think its been about 3 years since I starting thinking about a "pickup and camper" which ultimately evolved into the Sprinter order and build. On another note I am taking a cashier's check to Vegas just to be sure I don't have a "Lost in America" moment for those of you who have seen that movie (Albert Brook's 1985 classic...) Anyway I digress and will get some additional information posted in the chassis section soon. Again, Thanks R
