Two engine versions of 6.0L Powerstroke ?

When I look at classifieds, I can often see two different powers for the 6.0L Diesel engine : 235 hp and 325 hp.

Is it two different version of the same engine or just upgraded power on the same engine? If it's two versions, when did they changed?

Thank you for your support !

Claude-Alain

Re: Two engine versions of 6.0L Powerstroke ?

Different applications same basic engine.

325HP in F-Series pickups.

235HP in E-Series vans. The van engine compartment is so tightly packed that there isn't enough air flow to cool the higher horsepower rating. It is possible to use a tuner and up the horsepower of the engine - it just isn't possible to use that much power for very long without overheating. It is best to stick with the stock 235HP in a van.

Kill the kitty and you'll be surprised how much cooler the engine runs.

EGR delete will make a difference in coolant temps too, no more cooling of the super hot exhaust gases.

The 6.0 appeared in 2003 and be aware that in 2004 it received a complete factory-rework to clear lots of issues.

Re: Two engine versions of 6.0L Powerstroke ?

Thank you for your answers. So I think that in a lot of ads, the indicated power of 325 hp is false and that it's rather 235 hp.
