Re: Uh-Oh, I think Hal is intercoursed

If I have to go this route I would check into a short or long block from Ford. Have you priced them? What do you guys think about going that route?
I replaced an International straight 6 gas engine in my International TravelAll when I was a teenager with alot of help from my father's friends. And I was happy with the long block from International. I guess I prefer oem equipment and I wouldn't want to replace an engine twice...

Re: Uh-Oh, I think Hal is intercoursed

Sorry to discover that thread...

Hope the engine will arrive soon and that Hal will soon be able to run again.

Do you know if your engine supplier also makes Diesel engines ?

Re: Uh-Oh, I think Hal is intercoursed

The engine is coming from Advance Auto so it should be easy enough to check what else they carry.

Ford sells complete replacement diesel engines with a 24 month warranty, and long blocks and short blocks with 12 month warranties.

Re: Uh-Oh, I think Hal is intercoursed

BroncoHauler: I saved that website. Thanks!

carringb: You could have a windowed block and Ford takes the core without deduction.

The remanufacture video is pretty cool. They don't re-sleeve. They robot spin weld and bore.
Hmmm... then what about cavitation on the other side of the existing sleeves? They say they xray or some such thing so would that catch any cavitation divits on the other side of the sleeves? Or do they bore so deep and then build up so much weld material ao that it doesn't matter? Inquiring minds want to know...

And not only is the warranty 2 years, it is unlimited mileage which covers commercial vehicles as well as personal vehicles. And supposedly the warranty is nationwide.

Including for 6.0L a new egr cooler. (I am happy 7.3L don't have those...)
