Re: Wheels and Tires

Thanks for the advice. The original owner must have swapped out the 16's for 17's as I do have 17's. Right now I have the hubcaps that look like rims meaning the plastic looks like the hubcaps are bolted on.

I think my first action is going to be to pain the current hubcaps with black plasti dip. Not that I want to remove the black, but it is either that or flat black.

If I remove the hubcaps, I can paint the rims, but I was hoping to make them look beefier than the stock rim.

I have NO intention of converting to 4WD. Not that I wouldn't want to, I just don't have a need for it with how I use the van. But the 4WD SMB's are HOT looking!

Re: Wheels and Tires

I don't remember if you said if they were steel or aluminum wheels? The reason I ask is that there is a product called POR-15, which I have never used, but is made for steel and, depending on what others on this forum say about it, you may want to consider:

http://www.por15.com/

And apparently Dupli-Color makes a spraypaint specifically designed for wheels:

Re: Wheels and Tires

I have 16" wheels and have thought about getting 17" but tire are more limited. I don't have the bigger brakes but this is the one I'm looking at if I stay at 16" to replace my aging ATX Mojave's.

ATX Ledge 16x8 with a load rating of 3600lb. The ATX Mojave is 3100 lb. http://www.atxwheels.com/wheels/AX188/AX1886/techsheet

Not quite black, but I recently switched to American Racing Mojave Teflon wheels, which are popular on Sportsmboles. I have 16" wheels (for more tire flex than 17" wheels with same tire diameter).

I spray painted black the alloy rims on my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee soon after purchase, and they haven't scratched yet.

Re: Wheels and Tires

+1 on just spray painting the wheels black.

Toyo Open Country AT have been good for me, but wondered a bit at first. Tracks nice now.

Re: Wheels and Tires

Have a 2011 E350 and am also looking for wheels. Not doing 4x4 but may do a maxxlift 2" kit in front. What wheels will fit the van with out a 4wd conversion? What is the bolt pattern and hub bore and offset. Looking to go 17s with 265/70/17 AT's
