Re: 1991 E250 needing a few small changes

You can pop the top up and add water with a hose along
the bottom boot to find if it is leaking. Just do a short section
at a time...maybe even work your way up from the bottom of the van
to test the windows, exterior light and anything bolted to
the body. My awning supports leaked once but caught it quickly
before stuff went bad. I also had the wire loom of the solar
become a conduit for water. At the same time, water entered
the top and ran to the overhead lights. I drove around a corner
and water rushed out of the light There is a big write up
on the PH top bolts leaking that Jage did but I'll bet the water
is coming in elsewhere. I'd take a real close look at the butyl
seal at the base of the PH. Good luck and post what you find.

Re: 1991 E250 needing a few small changes

A couple of more ideas:

I can't quite tell where the "inside" photo is taken, but do you have a refrigerator above that area? I do, and the PO's of my van once forgot to defrost/remove stuff when they got home, it melted and leaked out of the fridge and caused a bit of swelling at the bottom of one cabinet panel (thankfully much, much less than what you have). Could it be a huge version of that? Is there a water line that my have leaked? (From the potable water system.)

Have you check the drip rails? My van was leaking at the windshield. So much that I thought my brand new windshield was installed wrong. My van only leaked when the windshield was down hill so to speak. With the van turned around it never leaked. One person using the water hose and another laying on their back looking. A relatively small hole produced a lot of water on the floor. Just a thought.

Re: 1991 E250 needing a few small changes

Figured out the source of the leak! Appears that the van was backed into something with the doors open as they are just a little out of alignment.

I did check the seals, there was one that looked bent upwards a bit. Got that to lay flush.

Hoping to get more pictures up soon before I start work on it.

Good for you...How did you find it? Just see it or did you put water on it to find the leak?

Re: 1991 E250 needing a few small changes

I had a tech looking at some other stuff and he asked what I backed into. Didn't even notice it until he said something. Then it was very obvious.

Re: 1991 E250 needing a few small changes

I am thinking about tearing out my cabinets and carpet in my 1989 Ford. Any tips? Thanks
