Any recomended portable A/C units

Does anybody out there know of any portable air conditioning units that you would recommend?

I was looking at Indiegogo (Zero Breeze) website, but was sure about the steps for purchasing one of their units. Has anyone had experiences with these guys? Would appreciate any feed back or suggestions.

I'm also interested in a portable or personal low amp DC cooler that is not a swamp type unit. Someone posted about that Zero Breeze unit but I've never heard any real test reports on how well they work. I've seen posts on using a 110vAC portable types but they require shore power or a generator in most cases.

After looking at the FB page visitor posts, looks like its just really delayed and backers are upset. They have posted pics of actual units on the manufacturing line tho. One poster claimed to have one. Maybe before next summer?

Maybe the AC unit isn't CARB approved?

Don't know what to tell you, it opens fine for me with no warning.

The zero breeze is cute, but at 1,100 btu I suspect you'd want at least 3-4 of them for a van. Even then you'd just be "less hot" rather than "cool". Looking at their pages, it does look like they are starting to be real, though still in small numbers.

Not really an answer to the original question, but this is the reality of what you can easily get today:

My van came with an ancient roof top unit (13.5k btu) from its days as a news van. Yes, they are heavy. They do use the same cutout size as the fantastic fan, so they could be swapped back and forth.

Recently I mostly made mine work with a single eu2000i generator. That was a neat project, I'll write up a post on that sooner or later.

I resisted carrying, or even owning a generator for a very long time, but after camping with this setup in 104 degree weather, I'm converted. All I want to figure out now is how to carry the generator all hooked up and ready to go.

If you figure out a good way to semi permanently mount a honda, im all ears. Alumuiness tried to get one of their boxes to do it, but ultimately shelved the idea and are selling some of their boxes as overstock.

I did see someone on Ebay selling a kit that vents your honda when it needs to be enclosed, so that could work.

My gripe wit hthe AC market is there needs t obe something mountable that is around 5k btu, which I think would do a decent job in a van.
