Conversion van seats

I was wondering if the aftermarket captains seats that conversion van companies put in the drivers and passenger seats are just replacement seats that go on the stock Ford bases (power), or if they replace everything?

Any help is appreciated!

Re: Conversion van seats

I have two experiences in my own rigs, one SMB, one non-SMB, both Ford E-Series late 1990's.

1) The seats in my E-Series SMB both swivel. They are factory Ford seats on custom (SMB-provided) bases. Neither are power.

2) The seats in my E-Series non-SMB rig do not swivel. They are made by Flexsteel (i.e. conversion van seats). They are on the factory Ford bases (the fixed ones with a backward tilt). The driver's seat is powered.

So the custom SMB swivel bases fit the factory Ford seats, and the custom Flexsteel seats "can" fit the factory Ford bases (with power on driver's side).
