Just a follow up here - I did get the tank dropped and back in this last week and it was a battle from the git go. I figure I had about 8 gal fuel still in the tank. I ended up using a tranny jack and a floor jack. A second set of hands is a must. One of the issues was how to handle the rubber fill and vent connecting pipes. After a couple tries with it on, ended up leaving the fill pipe off untill after the tank was fitted and getting at the clamp through the h2o/elec access panel in side of van. The good news is there was room in the top of the Ford sending unit to drill and install the fuel pick up line.
Furnace unit is installed under the rear bench. Fired up after 3rd try ( thinking it was filling the fuel line) and works amazingly well. Quiet and plenty of capacity. I did install a muffler and sound outside the van is minimal.
Now off to Glacier and Banff for a true test. Thanks for all the input.
