Heat Pump?

Hello,

I recently bought an old 95 Sportsmobile on the Dodge 3500 chassis. I went in expecting to have to rebuild everything, but found only a few minor things I could fix easily (vent fan, shower plumbing, etc.). One thing I cannot figure out is the HVAC system. It doesn't turn on anything when I try it. I found a coil with freon lines and a blower in a compartment under my fridge. Following the lines, I end up at something down under the body that looks like a compressor. That would be AC I assume, but what about heat? Is this a true heat pump, or is there a burner/coil someplace? I wouldn't expect it to work based on the age alone, but who knows. There are a ton of newer technology heaters out there, but if I can make the OEM work it would be cool to keep it. I don't need AC so much as occasionally wanting heat. Anyone familiar with this type of system?

Search “Starcool” on the forum and you’ll find all the info you want and then some

Thanks. I finally noticed the "Starcool" label. That is what it is. I saw tons of posts here, so the journey begins to understand it and decide if it is worthy of repair.

Good, sounds like you are able to find info and I see you posted in this thread:

As mentioned, it is wise to do as much reading as possible.

Somewhere on the forum is a PDF I posted years ago of the Starcool manual from my 1998 Ford. Should be pretty similar to yours.
