A few years ago when I did my research, I found the Norcolds come with the Sawafuji swing motor. I went with the Cruise 130/ASU that has the Danfoss.

Re: HELP! Norcold Bomb
Note that Engel now makes several models of front open fridges. They are not that big, though.

Re: HELP! Norcold Bomb
I know that we've been through this before somewhere on the Forum, however that fridge looks JUST like my Nocold.

Re: HELP! Norcold Bomb
Jeremiah,
How did the BOMB work in Moab?
Did it stay cold, or die on the road?

Re: HELP! Norcold Bomb
Stayed cold except when loaded with warm drinks in the middle of the day. We went to ice in the backup cooler to prechill the drinks.
I do want something that could make ice from a standing warm start in 120º direct sunlight, but for now the norcold continues to plug along.
Temps ranged from 35º to 29º except as mentioned above, and the knob was constantly fiddled with to keep eggs from freezing- in other words, normal operation for the Norcold.

Re: HELP! Norcold Bomb
I am wondering if anyone has ever tried to wire a real thermostat into a Norcold instead of that little dial. I have to do the same thing, crank it up to 5 during the day and down to 2 at night. Still wind up with frozen food part of the time and too warm other times. Maybe I'll go to Lowes and look around a little. I did install a wireless temperature transmitter with a remote display velcro'd to the wall so I can check the temp inside the fridge without opening the door. Just a cheap indoor/outdoor wireless combo thermometer from Lowes. It stores the min/max for recent temps.

Re: HELP! Norcold Bomb
I thought mine was on its death bed until I bought a couple of gauges. What a difference between the door temps and the rear of the refrigerator. Both thermometers showed 10 to 15 degrees difference. Although I still might have a problem, I'm going to install an interior fan. I had one of those cheap battery operated fans from camping world but it didn't last long. While it was running it did seem to help some.
I'm wondering what kind of insulation is in the door...anybody know?

I think it might be fairly well insulated. When my fridge is running and cold inside, and I put my hand on the exterior of the door, I don't feel any coolness.
I keep intending to get one of the battery operated fans to normalize the temps within the fridge. I've heard good and bad about the battery operated fans, but I don't want any major SMB projects while I'm trying to sell my van.

Does the door seal seat properly? I had that problem once with a twisted door.
