How to fill water tank

Hello all,

I'm going out to Joshua Tree and I'd like to fill my water tank. There are several knobs which something I'm sure. How do I properly fill the water tank without doing damage or over filling, and then make sure it will work out in the desert?

Assuming you have a similar water system to mine.

Here is what I do:

Step 1: open valve(grey plastic knob attached to water tank inside)
Step 2: hook a hose from your spigot to the city water outlet on the side of van
Step 3: turn on hose spigot
Step 4: there is an overflow tube on the water tank so when you see water dripping/flooding from the bottom of the van to the ground the tank is now full and you can turn off your spigot
Step 5: then close the water valve on the water tank
Step 6: disconnect hose from city water outlet

Here is a picture of my 10g water tank:

And here is the page from the SMB manual.

Garage
I do the same. On a side note, some city water pressures can be high so don't crank it on too high. Also it might be a good time to clean the tank.

Saline is the hot spring in Death Valley you asked for Gps coordinates for. I was going to go this weekend and though it would be cool to meet a fellow SMBer out there. Have fun in Joshua tree!

Ah yes! Sorry I never saw the name for it! I wasn't sure if my 2wd van would make it out there without getting stuck!

Without pressurized water you can fill water directly into your tank using the Wonder Funnel. Also you could always buy a portable water pump.

I got the idea from the forum to use a beer brewing siphon to manually fill up the tank from water jugs when pressurized water isn't available. Works great.
