Hydronic D5 intake filter

Does anyone know if there is an air filter or something to put on the intake hose of the D5 unit? SMB just routed it so it ended near the underside of the floor. The problem I see is that it's at least a 1" diameter open end just begging for dust and debris to get into it and on into the system. I asked SMB about this and they said an air filter would restrict air flow too much, which makes sense depending on the filter. Anyone have any ideas? I suppose I could always route it into the cabin. I looked on the Espar website and didn't see anything really.

Re: Hydronic D5 intake filter

You need to do a search on here. There's been lots of discussion about this. A removable inlet cap seems to be the way to go.

Ah, thanks. Will do! I didn't even consider others would be as worried about this as I was!

A universal PCV breather element from nearly any parts store would also fit in there nicely.

Fairly sure they make them for some of the Espar stuff. I think I saw it for the hydronic. But I was also told restrictions by adding just any filtar can cause the unit to code out. My guess is an overly large filter would not cause a problem but I'd check first.
