The saga of getting my porta-potty situation dialed in.
- Original unit that came with my van always seemed to leak quite a bit of clean water while 4-wheeling. No good.
- Bought a Thetford Curve. Doesn't fit into space for original porta potty, but that's fine. It was a nice unit. Occasionally leaked clean water while 4-wheeling, but I could live with that. Also occasionally vented during extreme elevation changes, but understandable and better than exploding! All good until the electric pump died (not the running with no water being pumped as others have had, but totally dead). I disassembled but couldn't get working.
- Bought another brand but hated it. It spit terribly no matter how careful you were and it was on the smallish side. Design was such that it was also difficult to dump.
- Researched manual pumps for the Thetford Curve and success, except I couldn't seem to order one here in the states. I did find a place in Germany and it just so happens my brother was in Germany for a while so had him order it and bring back with him. It is a drop in perfect replacement for the electric unit and works well.
So, if any of you want to convert your comfy Thetford Curve to a manual pump, here's where I got it in Germany. Maybe you can find a way to have it shipped to you in the states or find a more local source.
