Jackknife Bed/sofa

Has anyone tried or actually used something like this in their van? Seems like it could be a good way to have a bench on each side with some space in the middle.

No van is wide enough for those to fold out, unfortunately. They are 43" wide when folded out and no van is 86" wide inside.

I was thinking of mounting one down the side of the van over the wheel well. Not necessarily this one but something similar. I found one locally that is 70" long by 49" wide.

The 43" width of the linked jack-knife RecPro bed is the same as our SMB Gaucho. When opened it butts right up to the galley. 43" works fine - we're not big people.

Gotcha, for some reason I was thinking you meant one on each side. What you are thinking, like Snomad says, will work. I can't think of who here has done it but a few folks have. It works especially well with a 'transformer' style layout where you are hauling bikes or motos in the van.

Yeah that's what I was thinking, expect mounting it all the to the back. I have a Sienna seat I am mounting for a baby seat, it will be directly behind the drivers seat. Was thinking of mounting the jackknife seat behind it down side of the van.

In an EB you'll have room to spare.

Post up some pics if you do this. It will be cool to see and show other folks some possibilities.

I've never slept on a jackknife bed that was comfortable but I'm old and large.
