LED bulbs

I'd like to try one or 2 LED's first before ordering. Can the right size be found at Auto Zone or similar local sources. ?

Re: LED bulbs

For what application, RV reading lights, florescent lights, porch lights, turn signals,....?

Off the top of my head, I'd say you'll be able to find the turn signal LEG lights, but the other would be a challenge.

Re: LED bulbs

I can understand why you'd like to see them before ordering a bunch, especially when you factor in shipping charges. Different manufacturers, number or elements, warm white, pure white,...

I've only done the LED conversion on my porch lights, and festoon bulbs. I have yet to take the plunge on the RV reading lights, and I have EIGHT of them. Getting the right LEDs and the right cost is important to me too. I've even considered the Luxeon bulbs but I'm concerned they may be too directional.

Re: LED bulbs

I've switched all the 1156 bulbs in our camping trailer to this style.

They have a nice yellow glow and are as bright as the incandescent bulbs.

Re: LED bulbs

There are different light colors (white, pale yellow) and I really like the setup I copied for all the internal lights. The boards I made my own clips for might not be the ideal setup for the 1156 style, but the light output is great. (search for LED with jage and you can probably find the thread...) I believe the one white board I bought was for the external light, and I wouldn't like the color if it were inside.

I'm looking forward to trying Angel's LED replacements for the fluorescents.

Re: LED bulbs

I believe this is the link you should be looking for.

viewtopic.php?f=14&t=2132&hilit=led+lights

I am on my second round of Led Bulbs, the first set were all composed of individual traditional led bulbs Those were not bright enough and also had the the whiter light. My second set is with the Square surface mount led These can usually purchased in a "warm white" which is more like the traditional incandescent bulbs your use to. Generally look for ones that get the light pointed to where you want it. I found a considerable difference in the one above and this one , the only difference is the length of the stem. The longer stem lights up more area, while the shorter seams a little more focused when the SMB Reading lights. Both are excellent in getting the light to where you want it, but that subtle difference changes the light you get out.

Re: LED bulbs

A reputable supplier usually will allow a choice of Cool White or the Warm White .
