LP/AC Dometic Fridge -is there a conversion to add 12V?

Is there a way to add the 12V DC option to my 2-way fridge, thus making it 3-way? It's a couple of years old with electronic ignition, model 2351 Americana. The 3-way is model RM2354. I'm not an electrical engineer, but I have compared the schematics, looks like a relay and a 12v heating element. Anyone done this conversion?

Maybe check parts and schematics of newer Dometics?

I know throwing an inverter in would be hugely inefficient.

Maybe look for a small business in your area that specializes in repairing and rebuilding RV appliances. They might be able to do a transplant.

Chris,
The problem with the 12volt operation on these style of fridges is amp draw. When you are using it on 12 volts you will run your batteries down pretty quick. We always tell people to only use that option when the vehicle is running. The 12 volt option is just a heating element and they draw a lot of amps.

Hope this helps,Wildhare
