Microwave Remove/Replace

Hello, we have a (done in) 2014 Sprinter conversion. I believe it was done in Fresno. The chassis is a 2012 3500 Sprinter. The microwave oven is dead and we are aiming to just remove it - likely won't replace it.

I have removed a leatherette covered plywood shim at the top front and can freely tip the microwave up and down. There is no forward and back give at all and so far no visible means of attachment from above/below/side and no vented grill or grill cover.

Does anyone have experience with how the microwaves might have been secured in this vintage of conversion? Thanks.

In both my Indiana built e-vans the microwave basically just sat in the space. It’s held in place at the bottom by the feet of the microwave being set in recessed holes cut into the bottom shelf. Remove the top wedge blocks and then lift the microwave up at the front to lift the feet out of the recessed holes.

Thanks. I'll get out there with better lighting when it warms up and hope for the best.

Update: I went out and checked and my 2011 actually has two washers screwed into the shelf and the microwave feet fit in there. I guess it depends on the type of microwave you have. But I imagine it’s some variation on this theme.

We had a microwave in our 2010 Ford E350 SMB. We never used it because we nearly always boondocks, and never stay where there are hookups. We only used as storage space. So I removed it, and on a trip through California I let SMB Fresno know my plan in advance, so I when we arrived they installed a big drawer in the same spot, with wood and trim to match the rest of the cabinetry. I has way more storage space than the microwave!

No doubt. A microwave? Camping in the back country? Na.. good space to store the dishes.

Garage
The power cord might be holding you back. Can you get to where it's plugged in?
