Re: No Starcool, other options

More ... your doghouse might not be on properly, you shouldn't be getting hot air. Hot doghouse is common, but if there is actual "breath" coming from the dragon, you should check your position and seal.

Re: No Starcool, other options

somewhat off-topic:
i built my van from a 'passenger van' which has rear a/c and a rear control option (back-seat passengers can control their own A/C). it's only good when driving of course, but when camping on really hot nights i'll idle the engine for 15 minutes and cool off the interior before it's bedtime. i also carry a small house fan which i can run on 12v or 110. this whole issue has been a bit of a 'last-great-problem' for me and i really hope to find a good solution soon. i do not have a Fan-tastic yet, but i will soon.

Re: No Starcool, other options

Every time Ford has it's hands on the van, I ask them to be SURE the doghouse is seated correctly. It always gets hot, which I sort of expect, but I also feel heat hitting my knees (no, the dragon is NOT interested in me!) all along the bottom of the dash.
Greg, I'll ask Peter about Second Skin. Does it go beneath your carpeting?

Re: No Starcool, other options

Joanna,

Talk to Paul....

I bought a big supply of two products and provided SMB with it. One was a carpet-pad-like material with a backing, and the other was a rubber-like material with a backing. The two layers combined have seemingly done a great job. ...in fact, I may still have some of it there in a big box... I kept forgetting to grab the extra.

(and make sure and drop me a note when you are going to be up here)
