Operation Kegerator

Hi guys,

I'm currently researching insulation, appliances, etc. for a Sprinter conversion this fall, but before I get into that I'm looking into the most important component: the kegerator. I would like to get an Isotherm fridge with ASU, and while the outside dimensions are listed on many sites, I can't seem to find inside dimensions. The sixth and quarter barrels that many microbrews come in are 23 3/8 in. tall, and they make low profile keg couplers which only take up an inch, so I need 24 3/8 in. of height inside the fridge. Does anyone have an Isotherm fridge with that much clearance, and if so which model? Barring that, does anyone have a 12V fridge, of any brand, that has that much clearance?

Cheers,
Graydon

Re: Operation Kegerator

I've got a cruise 130 that I can measure up this evening when I get home. This seems like a very worthy cause.

Re: Operation Kegerator

Graydon - sorry for the delay! Each day I'd go to work and then remember that I forgot to check the measurements.

Anyway, I've got bad news for you. Looks like the practical interior is about 17" wide x 19.5" tall. The freezer/chiller and compressor take up the upper 6-8" or so. My exterior height is about 30" which I'm sure you've seen in the specs.

Aren't there some corny kegs that run shorter? If you want to get crazy, order up a Isotherm/Danfoss compressor unit and just build your own box to suit. Some of them even allow you to mount the compressor remotely which would potentially allow for greater cooling too if you had it in a more ventilated area.

Good luck!
cheers - josh

Re: Operation Kegerator

No worries, I got caught up with work and forgot about this for a week!

Most of the microbrews I've gotten in the past come in the tall skinny quarter or sixth kegs, so I'm really looking for something that will fit those.

I got an email from Isotherm saying that there indeed would be room for a quarter or sixth keg in the Cruise 130 DRINK... looking at the pictures I'm assuming that's because it doesn't have a freezer. Since I need a freezer, I'll probably end up going with one of the larger models. It looks like the Cruise 195 has the same amount of room as the 130 in the fridge compartment, and it has a separate freezer compartment, so that should work. It'll take up a lot more room than I planned, but hey, you gotta have priorities.

Re: Operation Kegerator

Not sure your layout, but I've seen dual fridges before... if you wanted a freezer AND some food space along with your beer.
