Refrigerators (2-way) 12v & 110v?

I've searched and poked around here for hours rounding up info on 2-way refrigerators. Nowhere could I find a thread devoted specifically to the topic.

Anyway, I'm getting ready to start my full build out and my 50 type floor plan needs to be built around the fridge. Originally I thought I was going Norcold 3.6 cu ft till I heard it run. I know many of you have no issue with it's noise but I'm going to avoid the noise/vibration (if possible).

Here are some others fridges I'm looking at:

Isotherm both CR 100 and CR130 w/ ASU (specs show nearly identical in outside dimensions but they are 3.5 cu ft and 4.6 cu ft respectively. scratching head)

Dometic 3.8 cu ft

Nova Kool (not sure which model)

The idea of building a sealed ice box and plumbing the compressor/condensing unit outside sounds great in theory. I'm not sure how you'd keep road dirt, debris, mud, snow, etc. from clogging the coils though. I read here somewhere SMB Texas build a couple units like this. Anyone know what they did?

Are there other 2-way units I should consider?

What's up with the Danfoss compressors? Are they scroll type while the others are reciprocating?

I'd love to hear any advice, opinions, or feedback on any of these units.

Thanks

Truckfridge! They make 12v/120v with Danfoss compressors I think, but they aren't called Danfoss anymore.

Did you use Isotherm in the search?

Truckfridge, eh? Their site makes no mention of the type/brand of compressors. Their units are about 1/2 the price of the 'boat' ones. Danfoss is still in business, btw.

Dave, I've got two models of Isotherm listed. CR 100 & 130

Do a search on Truckfridge. You should find my install thread. It is super quiet.

Refrigerators (2-way) 12v & 110v?

I read something on this. Someone had one listed and it showed the compressor label. It was someone other than Danfoss, but it said 'formerly Danfoss' or something like that. Perhaps Larrie can clarify or I'll see what I can dig up. I looked pretty hard at them before my build but chose to keep my 120v until it dies. Truck fridge will bey next one. Keep digging, they have a great reputation whatever compressor they use.

Hope that helps

Jim, I'm not sure if those models are discussed on the site but there are several posts here about Isotherm units that owners have installed. At least it might shed some pros/cons about them. I'll have to admit I've never really had any issues with my Norcold other than what it pulls in amperage. Maybe what I feel is quiet is noisy to others. Besides my snoring might be scaring my refrigerator into being quiet

Between your snoring and your fridge I'll make sure I camp across the creek from you...

I checked out Larrie's thread and the pic shows Secop formerly known as Danfoss Copressors.

Larrie is there a cooling fan on the back of your Truckfridge?

Well good luck on your choice Jim... I don't even think the creek will help with me, just ask CellularSteve .
