Remodel/Redesign Questions

I bought a used sportsmobile back in December, and have been living full time in it since March. After being in it a while, I found that if I could rearrange the interior, it would fit me better. Will Sportsmobile do that, or is there someone on here that can (for a fee, of course). currently, I have a contempo top with a walk thru floor plan. the couch, bed is front drivers side, and the stove sink and fridge is passenger side. I leave the bed out all the time, thus eliminating benefit of walk thru. looking to convert to more of a 50 style, or just a bed in back with storage underneath, and the rest near the front. Any help would be appreciated.

SMB West can re-do the interior to a 50 style. Its more common than everyone thinks. The only problem I can think of is the window placements of your original build.

Re: Remodel/Redesign Questions

Ripping out a perfectly good SMB interior to put a different one in, however the method, seems counter intuitive to me. I mean, someday I would like to take my van completely apart and redo everything, a la badgertrek.com, but I'll be putting it more or less back in the same manner.

I would talk to http://coloradocampervan.com/ and see what he can do (dsw4x4 on the forum), but otherwise I'd look at buying a 50 or building an empty van. Tough when you're fulltiming, but unless there is something special about the van itself it might be a better idea.

Re: Remodel/Redesign Questions

BTW: I forgot to mention the cost. You will have to pay for the 50 interior which is around $24000+Tax and the labor of taking the original appart. Your probably looking at a $25-30K remodel.

Re: Remodel/Redesign Questions

After looking thru smb website, its not the rb-50 I want it converted to, its the RB-12. essentially, I should be able to reuse the current sink, stove and fridge, just moved to different locations, and a bed platform built in the rear, instead of a goucho on the drivers side front like it is right now. Seems fairly straightforward, except for running some plumbing and ventilation.
