Replacement Front Seats for Ford Vans

Hi All,

Has anybody found a replacement seat that is more comfortable than the Ford factory seats. I am going to have to do something since my body and the seat are not currently on speaking terms.

Thanks

Re: Replacement Front Seats for Ford Vans

Are our seats actually Ford-factory seats? or SMB-factory seats?

Re: Replacement Front Seats for Ford Vans

It is what SMB-West puts in the vans. I believe they are Ford factory seats with the leather done by SMB-West. They appear to be identical to other non SMB Ford van seats. They simply don't offer enough support for me. I have tried a number of extra things for more lumbar support, etc. and it just is not enough.

I have looked at Recaro and a few RV aftermarket seats, but almost anything will need to be ordered without a chance to test them out ahead of time.

Thanks

Re: Replacement Front Seats for Ford Vans

I've found the seat heaters we had SMB install, after the fact, help out quite a bit on long drives. They help keep my back muscles more relaxed. Just another option.

I have Beard seats in my Bronco which are fantastic, but they're intended more for serious off-roading and have no adjustability whatsoever. They are a suspension seat.

No recommendations for replacement seats but maybe interested in your present seats as for I don't care for the orginal material on them.

Re: Replacement Front Seats for Ford Vans

We replaced our original Ford/SMB seats last year...the original ones were getting "tired" and no longer provided much support. We went to an RV customizer in Hayward in the Bay Area and tested some seats already installed in other vans on the property. We picked out ones we wanted, he ordered them and installed them for us. One very nice feature is power lumbar supports...heated seats were another option. And, yes, they still swivel although the left arm on the passenger seat is very tight to the door...

Here is a link to a company that sells to RV builders and truckers. They were also willing to sell to me, but we haven't done anything yet. We just had SMB Indy replace the cloth covers with leather. Seems to be a little more comfortable.
