Smoke Detector: Best Brand and Best Placement?

Hi

I have 2001 Ford EB 250 with Penthouse Pop-Top.

I am installing a new smoke-detector in my newly reconstructed pop-top.
  • What smoke-detector brand is most recommended for a van?[/*:m:1i4wtgrj]
  • What is the best placement for the smoke alarm is so it doesn’t go off every time you cook?[/*:m:1i4wtgrj]

Thanks

Re: Smoke Detector: Best Brand and Best Placement?

The problem is it needs to be high and not occluded by the bed when the top is down, so you're pretty much right in that front part of the PH, which is right where it goes off when cooking. I'd say if it was somewhere where it didn't go off when cooking it's probably not a good spot for going off for real smoke.
