sofa/bed

I am looking for a sofa/bed that sits near the rear of the van and tri-folds or opens to sleep my 6'3" body. Really don't want a sofa to sit side ways or perpendicular to the front seats. Can't find where SMB offers one, nor know where to go to find such. And since I'm getting, picky I would like maximum storage beneath the sofa.

thanks

Re: sofa/bed

That sounds alot like an 'EB50' van.

By the time you stretch out 6'3", you have used up most of the floorspace.

Or, maybe an EB10-15 plan. Sportsmobile can modify any of the floorplans to suit your special needs. Or, as we did you can design your own custom floorplan.

Another option is the penthouse bed. After a 2" thick piece of memory foam, it is quite comforable and doesn't take away any floor or storage space.

Re: sofa/bed

Just paid off my van and am ready to make it my camping home. Can't see buying a new one when I finally got this paid for. Currently I made a wooden framed bed that takes up the majority of floor space and it works fine. Doesn't fold up for additional seating however. That's what I'm after. I'm not worried about the floor plan at this time. I need to find a sofa/bed so I can plan the floor layout and add storage compartments. Ideally it would be wide enough for two people to sleep and still give space for a small width cabinet along the opposite wall when open. I can not find such an animal on SMB's site, nor from other suppliers.

And/or what do other 6'3" (+) SMB owners do? Cost is a major factor, but so is comfort. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: sofa/bed

Check out this thread. Deep into it, he makes a sofa bed that will spread our or retract electrically. It won't work for you, but you could make the same idea work by adjusting the sizes to fit your space. And it could be done without the power movement.
