Sofa Ceiling Height

It appears that on the "50" plan, when the upper bed is installed and the top is down, there is not much headroom on the rear sofa. SMB tells me that the ceiling height is 50 inches and the seat is 18" off the floor. This is pretty tight accomodations. I'm thinking that it might be nice to remove the upper mattress and stow in the back of the vehicle until you need to use it (gives you another 6 inches of headroom). Otherwise, the rear passenger could have a pretty sore head at the end of a trip. Any user comments?

We frequently take our two piece upper birth out and leave it out for short trip's or when we have passenger's on a day excursion . You really don't need it until you plan to use as a bed .

We don't carry passengers very often, but haven't had a problem. Tall person on a rough road might be a good idea to snug up the seatbelt though.

I have twin benches in the back as a dinette, and while I'm ok back there (at 5'4") most of my friends are over 6 foot tall, and I ether remove the bed panel, or tease them as they hit their heads. There's a two seats that don't have as much as a problem (the two closest to the front of the van) but because of the slope of the ceiling the back seats are for the shortest passengers, especially the one under the box for the electric penthouse lift.

I am 6'3" and do not think it is a problem at all. I do slouch but not that much. I never sit there while in motion but have had to camp with the top down and it seems fine to me.
