Standard Floor Plans

Anyone have an opinion on which standard floor plan would be best for a van that will have only 1 person most of the time? (RB).

Re: Standard Floor Plans

Every one has his views, for me the first aspect is do you want to access all items in the van while inside or not. If yes than a walk thru, if no than a 50 gives space and storage.
For me it is yes

Re: Standard Floor Plans

by walk thru do you mean that everything is against the side walls with an aisle that goes front to back unobstructed?

Re: Standard Floor Plans

For us, none of the standard floor plans worked. So we came up with our own floorplan.

If you are going to have a van built in Indiana, then a custom floorplan is no problem - Nancy and Jim will work with you to get the details right.

Start with a standard plan and change the parts that don't seem to work.

As a general rule of thumb, you will make some mistakes - don't worry about it. By the third SMB you will have the perfect floorplan.

We had a popup camper on a pickup before the SMB. Gave us an idea of what we needed. But, I'm sure the next one will be better.

One thing we were sure of was the '50' floorplan was not going to work for us. We wound up with an aisle the length of the van. We can reach everything from inside. And the mosquitos in a couple of campgrounds in Canada and Alaska made us happy to stay inside for the night.

Re: Standard Floor Plans

The side gaucho works nice for one as you can leave the backrest at home and the bench becomes a single so to speak. Then if you have company you can take the backrest and it makes the bed wider (however it's a snug wide, so be sure your company is friendly).

Re: Standard Floor Plans

Actually I think "walk thru" is standard vernacular for center aisle.
