Starcool removal possible?

I'm looking for info on removing the starcool from the inside of the van. It's 15 years old and I'm doing a remodel that will not include central air.

Ideally, I'd just cap off the refrigerant line and cut the electrical and be done. Is that possible or is it more complicated?

My worry is that I am gong to kill the van AC in the process.

Thanks

Tom

Re: Starcool removal possible?

You would need to cap the rear refrigerant lines as close to the Tee under the hood as possible. This also requires first a vacuum evacuation, and refilling with correct amount of oil and refrigerant for a non-rear AC setup. The oil is apparently critical, as Ford has some TSBs about adjusting the oil level in the AC system to prevent compressor damage.
