Suburban heater problem...

Two trips ago, our Suburban heater was working fine. We were off-road for part of the trip but the trail was rough but not technically difficult (if that was a factor). But on our last trip, our built-in Suburban heater suddenly didn't come on. I initially suspected the thermostat but it turned out to be a blown fuse.

Anyone else ever have this problem and/or any ideas what might have caused the fuse to blow? I had a replacement fuse but it instantly blew so it is being caused by a short.

Also, we have an EB-50 layout. Any "simply" way to remove the sofa so that I can better trace the short?

Re: Suburban heater problem...

If I remember right, our Suburban has wires that come through holes in the case of the heater. Maybe your bouncy ride caused the insulation to abrade.

Check your thermostat wires, too. Our A/C thermostat is mounted on the other side of the wall from the microwave. The microwave bouncing around wore away the insulation, which sent 12 volts through the thermo wires, burning the insulation off of them inside the Starcool power box.
