You could try the Suburban Craig fix method.

Re: Suburban Propane Heaters / Condensation

I thought Craig got it working when he blew in the exhaust and got covered in dust! That was up in Sample Meadows 2009, wasn't it?

Re: Suburban Propane Heaters / Condensation

Yes it was at Sample Meadow but I don't remember what the fix was. Sample is close to 9000' and it might have been related to altitude but others didn't have a problem.

Re: Suburban Propane Heaters / Condensation

Not fixed!
At altitude when the heater attempts to ignite I have to blow hard into the exhaust tube and it will light. Its seems to work consistently after that, almost. It acts like the unit needs to be warm to continue to ignite. VERY FRUSTRATING. I have had the unit apart and everything seems clean. It works fine at lower elevations, but i need the dang thing to work in Mammoth where its cold, not at the beach!

Re: Suburban Propane Heaters / Condensation

You may want to check the regulator for the propane. Years back I had similar problems on my Westy and it was the culpret. I had to replace it every few years as the diaphram or something messed up. I even got used to carrying an extra. These vehicles get a lot of crud blown around them on the roads. If there is not enough pressure I don't think the pilot would stay lit.
