Swivel seat base choices?

I want to put a swivel base on the factory passenger seat (2010 Ford E350). I've found the swivel base on the SMB store website for $307 and discountvantruck.com (part number 113631) for $209.

Are these the same part...made by the same manufacturer?
Is the SMB base better or higher quality?
Do you have any tips for installation?
Do you have any comments regarding a swivel base on the driver's seat?

Thanks for sharing your experience.

Re: Swivel seat base choices?

If I recall correctly, I bought my front seat swivel bases from SMB when I had them install the Voyager top in 2005. They are simple. Beefy. And well thought out, except:

1. I almost never swivel the driver's side. I might do it more often if I remove the manual transfer case shift lever and go with a NV272 electric shift transfer case. (Or not if I go really crazy someday and install a ZF6 manual transmission.)

2. Lengthen the wires on your airbag sensor on the passenger side with curly cue 2-wire from Radio Shack or Ebay? I can't remember. Remember to always swivel your passenger seat the same way everytime and reverse the same way everytime.

3. Don't drive with the passenger side seat back up in the reverse position because it blocks your passenger side mirror.

Finally, having the passenger side seat swivel to look to the interior is great because it increases the living room seating for my wife and I and for our guests when they are over for meals. IMO, you will really like the swivels.

I have an SMB passenger swivel I bought for my 2009, but never got around to installing. PM me if you are interested.

Re: Swivel seat base choices?

I also purchased the swivel seat from the SMB store. I thought it would fit in my '92 vehicle, but sadly it was not even close. the bottom holes didn't match the floor and the top holes didn't match the seat.

Not to be dissuaded, I took it to a welding shop and they chopped, burned and drilled the base to fit my dimensions. Now the passenger side rotates, sits firmly and all is good in my little world.

I have the swivels from discountvantruck in my '12. They seem to work fine. I've no clue if they're the same as SMB.

Re: Swivel seat base choices?

Does anyone know if you have to extend the seat belt wiring if you install the stock SMB swivel base. 2006 E350.

THanks, TP

Re: Swivel seat base choices?

You shouldn't have to lengthen it GoProCowboy. When mine swivels it has just enough slack to go all the way around.
