Wall lamp replacements?

So along the sides of the walls there are these lamps, sorry my van is in the shop for a few more days so hard to get a pic, but they have square ish covers and are made from plastic, and are utter and complete garbage.

I am wanting to replace them, looks pretty straight forward just unscrew the fixture, pull out enough wire to clip strp and crimp on a new fixtures + and - wires...

I see lots of nice brushed nickel goosneck lamps that would work, but I am wondering if there would possibly be something on the market like an adjustable head combination LED light and fan fixture that I could use as a replacement and add function?

I am thinking about something like these, but will wire into the 12V and mount to the wall instead of hanging and running on D cell batteries.

Another take.. just my 2 cents. Sometimes it's best to keeps things "factory-original". For example, a new stereo or fridge can be OK, but swapping out the original décor can create an odd, eclectic result. Even though dated, many times the overall appearance of the original build-out looks best.

Well......anything is possible........but.....

The fan takes 2 D cells. @ 1.5V each that's 3Vdc. You need to drop 12V to 3V or so. You could do that with a simple resistor, but then you are wasting 12V power making heat; the exact thing you are trying to lose with a fan.

You could find a 12V-3V buck converter on ebay for $5 or so.....some of them have adjustable output voltage. They are small enough that you could possibly stuff it in the battery compartment.

Something like this...

There are loads to choose from I just spent 15 seconds finding one that meets the need.

..and you also have to come up with a way to mount that.......

If you can live with this style, you can just plug it into a USB port.

The mounting would be the question. It would be negligible at worst to install a 12v to USB charging port close enough for each of them, and I happen to have them... But how to actually mount that would be a good question.

I figure I would want to add 12V fans anyway, I can't sleep without a fan on after all. I thought fans with lights would be perfect. Plus I am adding LED light strips along the ceiling line on each side, basically right on the inside / metal side of the opening for the penthouse... The original lighting was okay at best, but could really use a refresh.

As far as changing the interior decor. This thing SCREAMS early 90s, it could use some freshening up, and since the 30+ year old plastics are crumbling, might as well put someting I like in its place...

Not sure the battery version will like 5V from a USB port......maybe.....

Probably not, but it would be negligible to source up the USB powered version.

Garage
@dbhosttexas; if and when you remove those ‘square’ light fixtures you currently have, might consider offering them up on the forum - probably get quite a few takers….Just a thought.

I might have missed writing the part about why I want to replace them. They are literally garbage with the plastic assemblies falling apart. Pretty much not salvageable.

If they were, I would probably not even be considering replacing them as, well they would work and be in good shape...
